Behaviour Expectations
At Rufford Primary and Nursery School we believe that children learn best when they know what is expected of them and when they are involved and have a voice. Also, if they feel safe and are valued as members of our community.
The school behaviour policy is therefore designed to promote effective relationships so that all members of the school can work together with the common purpose of helping everyone to learn.
Our system of positive behaviour management promotes our high expectations of positive behaviour. It is our belief that everyone can learn to make choices about their behaviour and that everyone can learn different ways of behaving. We praise and encourage children to succeed and we acknowledge and reward behaviour that reflects sensible choices that allow learning to take place.
We help children to learn that, by making poor behaviour choices, they inhibit the well being and learning for themselves and others. We believe that everyone should learn they are responsible and accountable for the consequences of their actions.
We know that pupils are part of a wider community and trust that parents and carers will support our behaviour policy. We acknowledge the importance of their support and believe that we can all work together to make Rufford Primary School a safe, caring and positive learning environment for everyone.
We understand that the content and quality of the teaching in school has to be relevant, meaningful, stimulating and to a high standard so that children are fully engaged and enjoying their learning.
We understand that classroom organisation has to promote independence and structure so that children are secure in knowing what is expected of them and can be involved in their own learning.
We understand that children are individuals and have individual needs, sometimes requiring intervention that differs from what is usual for most children.
We will promote ourselves as positive role models in our interactions with the children and each other, by showing respect and value for each other.

Anti Bullying Policy
As a school, we take bullying and its impact very seriously. Pupils and parents should be assured that known incidents of bullying will be responded to and dealt with immediately. Bullying will not be tolerated. The school will seek ways to counter the effects of bullying that may occur within school or in the local community. The ethos of our school fosters high expectations of outstanding behaviour and we will consistently challenge any behaviour that falls below this.
